      Chief Security Officer for the Venture Capital fund Digital Currency Group

      Digital Currency Group (DCG) is the world’s largest venture capital fund with a pure focus on investments into businesses within the cryptocurrency & digital asset ecosystem. Lawson Chase were appointed to support DCG at group level, to hire a Chief Security Officer to sit within their team at HQ in Stanford, Connecticut. 

      This was a greenfield role for the firm which hadn’t existed previously. Our mandate was to secure a leader with a background that had already married a strong US Intelligence Services (CIA/Secret Service) career with a proven track record in operating within the private sector.

      The Chief Security Officer role was a critical appointment for DCG and was designed to provide a service/group resource that could be used by the executives across their substantial  portfolio companies. 

      Lawson Chase delivered a shortlist of professionals who had a proven track record in the intelligence services as well as within financial markets or technology. The successful candidate had spent 15 years in senior roles within the Secret Service & Department of Defense as well as having led Threat Intelligence & Security at Twitter/X and financial giant GE.
