Head of Stewardship for Lombard Odier Investment Management

Our mandate was to find a leader in ESG, with a Stewardship and Engagement focus, who would collaborate with a new ESG team to form the overall ESG strategy for Asset Management firm Lombard Odier.

The Challenge

The ESG team at Lombard Odier Investment Managers was in the initial stages of being developed, and thus the Head of Stewardship hire was a new position that would lead the candidate to be one of the first dedicated ESG professionals for the firm. They therefore required a professional who had held positions within ESG focusing on Stewardship & Engagement for most of their professional career. This can be a challenge within itself as people can become sought after given the market of senior level ESG professionals being in high demand within the investment management industry.

The Solution

Lombard Odier Investment Managers appointed Lawson Chase to conduct a search to find candidates who had extensive stewardship experience with an asset management focus, who would be able to lead this area of the overall ESG strategy for the firm. Our preferred candidate had had her entire career to date within ESG, having a focus on the stewardship remit, including engagement, proxy voting, and corporate governance, especially in her role at Investec where she held responsibility for this for the firm.
