      Commercial Disputes Associate – Private Practice




      A global disputes-only law firm is currently seeking a Commercial Disputes Associate to join its London office.


      The firm is looking for a high calibre commercial disputes litigator with excellent academics to join case

      teams in a client-facing role. The right candidate may either have a mix of general commercial disputes

      experience with competition law exposure or pure competition litigation experience. Either way, a deep

      knowledge of English Civil Procedure is key.


      Applicants should have strong project management skills, be a team-player and be keen to take on a

      considerable degree of autonomy and responsibility. You should have experience of, and be comfortable

      with, working in a client-facing role. European language skills are valued and international work is a

      readily available.


      Key Responsibilities

      • To take an active role on a portfolio of cases with a focus on French clients, across industry sectors in the Competition Disputes practice. Contributing to strategic decision-making, as well as the day-to-day running of cases, are central to this role;
      • Dealing with clients directly, external counsel, economists and funders;
      • To manage day-to-day operations on mass-scale collective proceedings in various European jurisdictions and supervise a 5+ team of more junior associates and paralegals,
      • To contribute to settlement negotiations, at all stages of the litigation;
      • To engage actively in business development including working up new ideas for claims – particularly in France – and contributing thought leadership; and
      • To contribute to the firms learning and development programme, including delivering training.

      Candidates will have:

      • Proven experience in commercial disputes;
      • Strong experience managing large, complex projects involving multiple stakeholders; and
      • Excellent interpersonal skills.

      • Pure commercial litigation experience;
      • Experience of collective claims and/or group litigation;
      • Experience of acting for claimants in litigation;
      • Experience of litigation funding; and
      • Experience of working in international teams
